They are looking around and things are getting very exciting now.
The kits are eating solids well and  now that there eyes are open we are handling them more. They are so cute.  We still have a jill available from this litter if you think you are interest now is the time to set up an appointment to see them, they are placing quickly.

On another note we no longer have retired breeders available for placement.  They have all
been placed in loving homes and are doing well.  Congratulation's to the the new parents of
our dooking boys.

New Kits
Written by Val

For all that did not know my email was down for months so I am sorry for all the emails that did not get responses or were lost in the repair. We are up and running again, Ya hoo!

The new kits are now 3 weeks old and I am taking deposits on them.  It is a $50.00 nonrefundable deposit. Cash, money order or pay pal only.  For those that are coming for a visit you will get a chance to see these little sweeties.  They will not be ready to go until they are 10-14 weeks old. Our older retired breeders are almost completely placed out so if you are interested in one of these hobs you will need to email me now. Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays are the best time for visits just call or email to set one up an appointment and we will be happy to show you our cute and fuzzy babies.

On another note Mocha just gave birth today.  Things went well and mom and babies are quietly sleeping.  Due to this recent birth visits in the ferret room will be limited until the kits are older.  We are still happy to bring out our adults and older kits to be seen we just will be asking to keep the noise down.  I am very proud of Mocha she is a great mom and always had stunning kits.

New Kits!

I just want to let everyone know that my email was freezing for the past couple of months.  I just got it fixed but lost allot of old emails in the process. I am sorry if your emails have gone unanswered.

We have just had a litter born about a week ago so if you have been waiting for kits now is the time to contacted me.  We will not be having as many litters as last year, things are just to crazy this year.  I will try my best to get kits to the people who have been waiting the longest first. Hopefully this wont be a problem.   The current litter is from a silver hob and a champagne mom they look to be sable but can lighten to silver.  It is wonderful to have the sounds of meeping  in the ferret room again.

We just got back from Hedgehog Fest 2008 and we even won best in show!!! A big congrats to Kelly of Hamor Hollow Hedgehogs.com, it was great show.  They had a petting zoo, face painting, crafts and games it was a blast. We had a great time.

I want to thank our good friend Tammy for the ferret hammocks the fuzzys love anything new.

We are going to fix Mr. Runtford Meeps, a popular ferret with every one, he will
most likely be placed with a family friend.  We are also finishing up the video this weekend.
I am hoping to have it up on u tube next week. A big thanks again to Reel sight.com with out
them I would not even know where to start.  The new kits are a hoot and keeping me very busy they
learned how to get out of one of my play pens and destroyed the ferret room.  They pulled all the
tubes and extra toys I store under the cages out and had a grand time playing.  I figured out how
they escaped and there will be no more out breaks, I hope.  With ferrets you just never know.

Ear cleaning
Written by Val
Sunday, 01 July 2007
We just finished shooting the film footage for the ear cleaning video.  That never takes very long, on the other hand the voice over work kills me.  I do not know how all those actors do it.  Trying to read several paragraphs on ear cleaning (that I just know will not make it into the video) while speaking clearly and not rushing is not where my talent lies. I hope people find them fun and informative.  I take my hat off to Mr Reel for all his hard work.  His illustrations are great.  With out his hard work none of this would be possible.  Hopefully will will have the finished video in a couple of weeks. I am really looking forward to see what he has done with it.

I am posting today about our recent losses.

I want to tell every one about Sarah, she was a kit born here in April.  She was the runt of the litter weighing half what her siblings did at birth.  I did not think much of that as this often happens with big litters. I planned on giving her extra feedings to keep her weight up and  keep her growing well.  She was a live wire from the start at half there size she would bully for space at the nipple and be the first to the bowl for her kit mash.  She continued to lag behind her siblings as the weeks past but I grew comfortable that she was out of the danger zone and grew so in love with her that I named her and told my family that she was going to stay with us.  She opened her eyes 2 weeks before the others and would leave the nest and come over to me when I was in the room. She knew I would hold her and feed her some mash, she had me well trained. Then at 6 weeks it happened, she died.  No warning, no illness, just here and then gone.  I had mom and her siblings checked out by the vet to make sure nothing was wrong they were fine.  She passed quietly and I cried not just a graceful tear but a full snotty mess.

We have lost several kits this year, I am just writing about one of them in tribute to them all. My best friend who has been breeding Hamor Hollow Hedgehogs for over 5 years, always call no matter what time of day when she loses a litter.  We talk and some how her knowing that I know and morn them too helps us grasp why such tiny lives are taken home so soon.  So I guess that is why I am writing this, I am not looking for sympathy just acknowledgment that they were here and some one will miss them.
